- Abstract
- This report will be a basis that will support the development of appropriate strategies in disaster risk reduction and their prioritization for short-term and long term development planning in the Republic of Armenia. A group of experts was hired to analyze the current situation, identify issues and challenges, strengths and weaknesses of the available information for national risk assessment, as well as historical data on disasters. They prepared an inventory of studies, a statement of used methodologies and their compliance with international best practice and standards, etc. One of the tasks of this study was to understand how well the process of disaster risk management is regulated. For this purpose, the legislative documents of all ministries and state agencies involved in this process were examined including some government programmes and strategies.
