Abstract
This report presents the result from a part of the project “Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment in the Rakhine State, Myanmar.” The report focuses on the assessment of the priority hazard types in Rakhine State. Hazard assessment is an essential first step of the overall risk assessment process. It involves gathering and analyzing of basic information and observational data on meteorological, hydrological, geological, or technological hazards in terms of their nature, frequency and magnitude. To assess the hazard, historical records are used to identify critical hazard zone. Furthermore, scientific knowledge, expert judgment, and computer simulations often are needed to create hazard scenarios in the case that the historical data is sparse or unreliable.
