Abstract
This layer provides the 1000 years return period for wind velocity [km/h] with regional effects by hurricane hazard; (Datum Northamerica WGS 1984) (Cell size ~20 km).
This dataset was developed by ERN to evaluate the hazard from winds originated by tropical cyclones. It uses a catalogue of cyclones for the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans (e.g. NHC-NOAA). The wind speeds at the site of interest are estimated by means of a parametric model for a standard height of 10 meters over the surface of the sea. A calibration process was developed to confirm that the obtained results are consistent with existing regional hazard information considering an appropriate uncertainty for the probabilistic risk estimation purposes. General information about this model is available at Wind Hazard Model. Point of contact for this dataset (contacto@ern.com.mx)
