Multi-hazard risk assessment in the Rakhine state of Muanmar - Synthesis report
Abstract
Myanmar is a country exposed to a number of hazards such as floods, cyclones, earthquakes, landslides, forest fires etc. Over the decades, Myanmar has experienced a number of cyclones, floods and landslides. Major parts of the country especially the coastal region are mostly affected by the hazards. The main goal of the project "Multi Hazard Risk Assessment in the Rakhine State of Myanmar" is an understanding of the vulnerability of communities to various natural hazards and a comprehensive picture of the impact of natural hazards as well as the determined degree of exposure to future hazardous events.
